Me and Guinness at Freedom Park in Charlotte NC

This past week I had a doctor appointment in which I received a shot of Rhogam. I am A Negative blood type, meaning my blood lacks the RH factor, I am RH negative. The Rhogam shot was given to me and the needle was about the same size as an epidural needle. HUGE. But I didn’t even flinch :)

Then, I did the glucose tolerance test (1 hr test). In this test they give you 50grams of glucose. I did not have to fast, although I did and I failed the test! My blood sugar level should have been below 130 and it was I think 179, I cannot remember exactly, maybe 189, whatever it was super high. Apparently Gestational Diabetes can be regulated with diet and exercise but I do not know what I can eat differently to the way I am eating now…I go in for a re-test, a 3 hr test on Tuesday. I have to eat a high carbohydrate/sugar diet on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, to get my body used to high sugar volume…so here I come Ben and Jerrys!

After all that I had an ultra sound to see if my low-lying placenta had moved up and it did! So no bed rest for me. Our little Aston was measuring 2lbs 12 oz, slightly larger than average, but not very large. I was also able to have a 4d ultrasound. It was amazing…I will post some pictures up as soon as I scan them. The little boy is alreaedy growing up!!!

I will update with pictures from the ultrasound and my gestational diabetes update later on next week!
